Presentation of the Master

The studies of the master’s degree in Secondary and Baccalaureate Teacher Training, FP and Languages are a necessary accreditation to exercise as a teacher in a public, concerted or private secondary school. The master’s degree is aimed at students who are in possession of a diploma, bachelor’s degree, engineering or degree and wish to work as teachers in secondary schools. To access the different specialties of the master’s degree offered by the UdL it will be necessary to be in possession of a suitable qualification or that agrees with the teaching specialty that you want to study, in accordance with the resolutions of the Department of Education for the interim exchange.

With a total of 60 ECTS credits, the subject structure is articulated to provide basic training for teaching at the secondary levels of the education system. Therefore, future teachers in compulsory secondary education and baccalaureate, vocational training and language teaching are professionally trained with teaching and psycho-pedagogical skills specific to the teaching environment to which they will be assigned.

Modalities of the Official Master's Degree

The Master’s Degree in Secondary and Baccalaureate Teacher Education, VET and Languages of the FEPTS is offered in blended mode where:

  • 60% is delivered in person
  • 40% is taught synchronous and/or asynchronous online

Specialties

The Specialties are an itinerary or curricular intensification offered in the master’s degree and obtained by passing 3 subjects between 5 and 12 credits and a curricular internship of 14 credits. The following is the offer of Specialties of the Master’s Degree in Secondary and Baccalaureate Teacher Training, VET and Languages of the Faculty of Education, Psychology and Social Work of the University of Lleida:

  • Specialization in Geography and History: aimed at students interested in learning and teaching Geography and History to adolescents and adults. To access this specialty, it is necessary to have initial training linked to this area of knowledge. This specialty enables the student the professional profile of geography and history teacher.
  • Specialization in Physical Education: aimed at students interested in the teaching of sport and physical activity. This specialty enables the student the professional profile of teacher in physical education.
  • Specialty in foreign languages (English): aimed at students interested in the teaching and didactics of English in secondary schools and baccalaureate, FP and languages as a foreign language. This specialty enables the student the professional profile of English teacher/a.

Each specialty offers 30 places.

Career opportunities

The profession for which persons who have obtained the master’s degree are trained is that of teacher/teacher of Compulsory Secondary Education, Baccalaureate, Vocational Training and Language Teaching (ORDER ECI/3858/2007).

The main task of graduates is the formal and basic training of adolescents and adults (from 12 years old). The main employment sectors are:

  • Secondary Schools, Baccalaureate, VET and Languages
  • Adult education centres.
  • Specialized publishing world.
  • Management of extracurricular activities for cultural enterprises and services.
  • Reception centres for children and young people supervised by the Administration.
